We study a publish/subscribe service for mobile ad-hoc networks. Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks (MANETs) are formed by a collection of mobile nodes, each equipped with wireless communication capabilities, without relying on any fixed infrastructure or centralized administration. A publish/subscribe system is responsible for delivering data from a source to interested users. A user expresses interest in receiving certain data by submitting a predicate about corresponding data content. In this talk, we introduce the density driven virtual topography that is used to route the messages through the network. Then, we overview two variants of a publish/subscribe service that is based on the virtual topography. Lastly, we compare our results with the tree-based publish/subscribe mechanism and an optimized flooding based scheme. Our results show that the density driven approach is superior to the others in most scenarios for most metrics. The talk is self-contained.
