CS "Rubber Duck Forces" team - Volodymyr Polosukhin, Artem Shtefan and Evgenii
Zheltonozhski, their coaches Nofar Carmeli and Gil Ben-Shachar, and
academic supervisor Prof. Gill
Barequet - won the bronze medal in the
ACM
ICPC (SWERC) 2019 programming contest held on January 26
,
2020 in Paris, and came in
11th (!) of 95 teams from well known universities in west and south Europe. The
second Team - "SleightOfHand" - Ron Hirsch, Rui Jiang and Michael Zalozieck came in 47.
The prestigious contest is being held since 1970 and hosts tens of thousands students
from approx. 3,000 universities and its competitors are required to solve in 5
hours 11 programming and algorithmic problems demanding theoretical knowledge in
math and computer science.
Technion CS, sponsored by Google for seven years in a row and by Microsoft for
the first year, participates in the
contest for the 14th time and holds a training course "Competitive Programming
Workshop" which prepares the students to the contest.
