The startup Lumana recently raising $24 million. The company, which develops computer vision technology for security cameras, was founded by Sagi Ben Moshe, a graduate of the faculty (2010), and its Chief Scientist is Prof. Ron Kimmel, a faculty member.
Lumana has developed a platform that enables image processing for simple security cameras, transforming them into smart devices using artificial intelligence. The result is the ability to identify emergencies and threats in real-time, with alerts issued within seconds for incidents of violence, vandalism, and more. The system manages events and allows remote access to security cameras, smartphone applications, video sharing, live viewing, real-time image processing, unlimited archiving, and more.
This system upgrades the smart camera platform (analytics) and provides comprehensive protection by learning from multiple cameras about unusual events. It can count people, measure foot traffic, identify unauthorized individuals entering designated areas, recognize vehicles, detect threats, and even identify individuals not wearing helmets at construction sites, as well as violent incidents in schools.
