Social Excellence Award

These days, it is important for us at the faculty to highlight volunteer initiatives and to award a social excellence award for extraordinary and inspiring work.

Many students went out this year to help society and the state, led by reservists and regular soldiers who participated in combat for a long time, sometimes risking their lives on the front lines. At the same time, they made an effort to continue their studies and fill the gaps created by their service - for us, they are a source of hope for a better future, and we salute and cherish them.

At our annual Honors Ceremony held on April 9, 2025, we awarded a social excellence award dedicated to a group of students who dedicated their time to social work following the war:

Shira Gahtan volunteered at the "One Heart" shelter as a team leader. She was responsible for connecting evacuees looking for a place with hosts, and recruited additional volunteers for this activity.

Nitzan Haim Listman volunteered at the "Achim Lamsek" shelter on day and night shifts, assisting with agriculture and connecting volunteers with farmers.

Benjamin Cohen, a master's student, took an important part in the organization for collecting equipment for soldiers and evacuees, and distributing it "to the house," whether it was a hotel for evacuees or a military base.

Noam Koren, a doctoral student, volunteered as a teacher for evacuees in grades 1-3. She taught arithmetic, Hebrew, Bible and Moladah, initiated many social activities for the children, and was a listening ear for them.

Arad Kotzer, a doctoral student, showed up after October 7 at Kibbutz Mishmar HaEmek, where the residents of Nahal Oz were evacuated. He and his wife operated a kindergarten and organized respite activities for the children and the adult members. He also led volunteer groups that were involved in organizing Nahal Oz in preparation for the residents' return.

The work of Stav Aviram, who led a project that involved dozens of volunteers, stood out in particular. The project involved collecting donations to purchase essential equipment for soldiers in the field at a total cost of 80,000 shekels. Stav and the volunteers also prepared and sold baked goods to raise additional donations.

We won!!
