The Taub Faculty of Computer Science News and Announcements
The Technion’s Computer Science Faculty is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
To mark the occasion, an Alumni Reunion, dedicated to alumni who graduated during 1972-1980,
was held on December 30th, 2009.
Some 250 alumni and faculty members from those years attended the meeting in the Taub building,
where they heard updates from the Technion President, Prof. Peretz Lavie, and greetings from the
department’s founder Prof. Abraham Ginzburg and the current CS Dean, Prof. Eli Biham. The keynote
address was given by Dr. Andrei Broder, Vice President and Chief Scientist of Yahoo!, himself a Technion
CS alumnus. Dr. Broder described the emerging field of Computational Advertising. The formal part of the
meeting was closed by Technion Vice President for Research and a CS faculty,
Prof. Oded Shmueli, who reviewed milestones in Technion’s R&D activities over the past few years
.
The reunion featured a festive dinner and musical entertainment. The alumni were able to meet old friends
and wax nostalgic about the good old days at the Technion. Many of the CS faculty who taught the
alumni during those years were on hand to greet their ex-students.
More memories from the event can be found in the alumni page
