The Taub Faculty of Computer Science News and Announcements
Moran Feldman, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Science at the
Technion won the World
Google European and American Doctoral Fellowships. It is the first time that
Google decided to grant
a fellowship to research students outside the United States and in
Israel Feldman was chosen together with a student from the Hebrew
University. The fellowship includes full tuition and additional grant for three
years.
This fellowship program was inaugurate in 2009 and this year (2010)
Google is awarding
fellowship to 31 students from Europe, Canada, U.S.A., China and Israel.
Feldman's research proposal deals with advertisement in web search engines and the
importance of restricting the exposure of each web user to commercial banners, so
that
they don't loose their effectiveness. Naturally, Google, like other web search engines
companies, which derive most of their income from advertising in their web sites,
can substantially
benefit from the results of such research and
and naturally
would be in interested in
encouraging and supporting it.
Congratulations to Moran Feldman!
