The Taub Faculty of Computer Science News and Announcements
The winners of Spring semester 2016 CS Dean Execellence Award and 2016 Programming Contest
were awarded in a ceremony held in the faculty on
April
2, 2017. The event hosted guests and family members of
159 Dean Excellent students and young leading programmers
who won the traditional programming contest of the Faculty of Computer Science
held for the
11th time in June 2016, generously sponsored by Google.
The contest was organized by
Nofar Carmeli and Eden Saig, and Prof.
Gill Barequet

Competitive Programming
initiator and conductor since 2006. In the winning teams
were Eli Gavril, Aviv Laizner, Rami Goldberg, and Omer Daniel, Aviram Magen,
Itai Zukier - who honorably
represented the faculty and the Technion in the prestigious
programming contest
ACM/ICPC, held in
Porto, Portugal in November 2016.
The ceremony was conducted by Prof. Shaul Markovitch, CS
Vice Dean for undergraduate studies, and among the speakers were Prof.
Irad Yavneh, CS Dean and Google representative and CS graduate, Mr. Yaniv
Carmeli who also granted the programming contest winners. Guest lecture
was Prof. Ella Miron-Spector from the Faculty of Industrial and Management Engineering
at the Technion. Sh
e gave a
fascinating lecture ab
out creative engineering and
leading changes in the 21st centurey .
A musical
performance was given by the ensemble Naomi Mageni on Lira, Lilly-Ann Bezalel on
Nai and Nitzan Treistman on drums.
