Prof. Seffi Naor and Prof. Roy Schwartz, with CS grads Niv Buchbinder and Moran Feldman, received the SIAM Outstanding Paper Prize for their paper "A Tight Linear Time (1/2)-Approximation for Unconstrained Submodular Maximization" which appeared in the SIAM Journal on Computing (SICOMP). Johny Srouji, Computer Science grad , Senior Vice President in Hardware Technologies at Apple, has visited recently at the Technion. Srouji, escorted by Aharon Aharon, manager of Apple development center in Israel, and senior personnel from HQ and Israel, met with faculty members and researchers. The group was invited to visit at the Geometric Image Processing lab (GIP), where projects and researches in the field of 3D, Computer Vision, and Virtual Reality, were presented.

On Wednesday, June 22nd 2016 CS held the 2016 End of Year festival. Masses of CS students packed the Taub building foyer where they hosted all the rest of the Technion students. CS Ph.D. Gaduate Shahar Timnat, won the 2016 Doctoral Dissertation Award of the ACM Symposium on Principles of Distributed Computing.
